Fall 2010 Newsletter
Greetings from the state of Iowa,
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3
This has been our prayer for the past 40 years. We praise the Lord that he has enabled us to be His servants and our desire is not only to see souls saved but lives changed as well. What a blessing to be able to be in the state of Iowa the entire year. We began in March and will continue to stay in Iowa until the middle of November. Each church we have been in thus far we have seen fruit. It has also been a great time to reminisce. The blessing of a long term ministry is being able to go back to the same churches we have been in and seeing the growth in those that made decisions in the past.
Some of the highlights of the summer:
1. A young man at Jr. Boy’s camp came to Lars and said his dad was saved under our ministry when he was a small boy at Jr. Camp. Now we had the blessing to minister to his son at Jr. Boys.
2. We conducted 3 camps this summer and saw many decisions but the blessing was at Special Camp where we saw 4 come to Christ. One camper came to Lars and wanted him to show them how they could be saved. We were rejoicing! The Sunday before Special Camp Lars was preaching in a nearby church and 2 counselors that were going to work that week with the campers got saved. WOW!
3. We were privileged to conduct 5 Vacation Bible Schools during the summer. We saw at least
one salvation decision in each V.B.S., with many children hearing the message of the Gospel.
4. Being able to spend time with the many friends we have made during our 25 years of missionary evangelism.
We want to thank everyone for the many wonderful cards and letters. What an encouragement as well as surprise. We have put the cards in a book so we can go back and reread them again. Most of all we appreciate your many prayers on our behalf not only for us but for our family as well. Sonya is doing great. She has another cat scan in October. For those who did not know she had 1/10th of her liver removed. The liver has grown back and her blood counts are good. Angela and Candace are giving us 2 more grandchildren before the year is over. Matt and Lanissa are settled into their ministry in Mattoon, Illinois, where Matt is pastoring Maranatha Baptist Church.
Please continue to pray for safety as we travel. Also pray for our health. We are not getting any younger and we praise the Lord we are as good as we are. Pray for our meetings coming up. We want the Lord to really bless our meetings and to use us. Phyllis will begin conducting children’s meetings as well. If you are nearby any of the places we will be, we would love to have you visit.
