Summer 2010 Newsletter
“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ” I Peter 1:7
We want to thank everyone for their prayers these past few months. For those who were not aware of the situation, Sonya’s cancer in the liver returned and she had to undergo surgery. They believe that when they radiated the liver they missed some, but they can not be certain. When she went in for a check up, they found the spot and she underwent surgery. She had 1/10th of her liver removed. Now they believe they have gotten it all but again they cannot say for certain. She had a few rough days in the hospital but has recovered nicely and is back to her normal routine. Because of this, I went out to California and spent 2 weeks helping them. Lars remained in Iowa to continue meetings.
This is a special year for us. We celebrate 40 years of marriage, 40 years in the ministry, 25 years of traveling in evangelism and most important 50 years of salvation. The Lord has opened up the doors for us to spend an entire year in the state of Iowa with a few side trips to Illinois to visit with Matt, Lanissa and Austin.
During one of our meetings in Florida, we had a lady get saved who realized that although she was a church member and involved in Christian ministry that she had never truly been saved. For years she thought she was saved. Now that she is, she is really excited.
There has been an excellent response in the churches where we have been in Iowa during this Spring. We have been in 8 churches since March as well as pulpit supply in Hudson, Iowa for 3 Sundays. We have a busy summer schedule and are excited about what the Lord is going to accomplish. The Lord has opened up the door for 3 weeks of camp, 6 weeks of Bible School, and the rest of the summer in various other churches.
We cannot end this letter without praising the Lord for answered prayers. He has given us many things to be thankful for. The Lord is teaching us many things through Sonya’s bout with cancer and answering prayers which we are so grateful. The many miles we travel each week, God has given us safety and protection. Praise the Lord for decisions that are made each week, many we will not be aware of until eternity.
Sincerely in Christ,
Lars & Phyllis Wessberg
